All are different. ...
All are different. My guy is pretty active and while he sits on my lap, he's usually trying to do something, he rarely sits still. I wouldn't trust mine on my shoulder, because he would go after my ear, and their beaks hurt! I wouldn't recommend having most birds on your shoulder, you could put yourself in a dangerous situation. All senegals and all birds are different though. Even though mine is a little aggressive, I think it makes him a really good learner, he's so eager to do things.

he'll bite ...
he'll bite sometimes when going back or when I take him out, depending on his mood. I always cover my hand with a towel, and when I want him to come out and he doesn't, I either just leave him alone, or bribe him with an almond bit :) He's out of his cage most of the day, I work from home and my work area is right by his cage, so we talk all day. He probably spends at least a couple of hours a day on me. he's also more likely to bite during the times of the year when he's more hormonal.

It's easy to teach ...
It's easy to teach birds tricks, check out clicker training, my bird loves to do tricks because he gets a treat. There's a yahoo group called bird click. Teaching tricks actually improves behavioral problems. He's 5 years old. He does bite sometimes, so I've had to learn how to avoid bites. No punishment at all though, only positive reinforcement.

I think your ...
I think your senegal is really good, great learning capabilities. I've a Senegal Parrot named Kermit is currently 7 months old still a young fellow, I'm still trying my best to open him up and unleash his learning capabilities. It's just matter of time and patience. I think you done really well in your training, I salute you!
