All our birds ( … All our birds (Mango, our African Grey, Eclectus and B&G Macaw) are potty trained, but more of it was training us, the family. We hold them over a basket immediately when they are taken out and tell them Poopy - they usually have to lighten the load right away when they move from spot to spot. Watch for signs - time them, they usually have to go every so often. Put them someplace acceptable and tell them to go, praise a lot.
This doesn’t stop … This doesn’t stop her from pooping on the floor, but she hasn’t pooped on us in a while. Keep in mind that its just as much your responsability, in terms of timing as it is hers/his. Be patient and never punish your bird for accidents. The key is positive reinforcement. Good luck.
My tiel is 4 years … My tiel is 4 years old. We’ve only had her for about 4 months now…and I’ll need a little longer to decide if I actually have her trained or if i have inpecable timing!
What i did for the past month is whenever she’d poop, wherever it was, I would say “poop poop cheeka” followed by a good bird.
After a while, when she was out of her cage I would pick her up and put a tissue under her bum and give the command. And once she went, gave loads of praise.
